Do you view managing your money as something you get to do or something you have to do?
Did you know that how you answer that question is directly affecting your current wealth? Also, how you view your money is also a clue for your reaction at this ridiculous yet true moment at my beach wedding. You tell me…
The sun was starting to set. The crowd was gathered. The rabbi was getting to an emotional heartfelt part of the ceremony where he was explaining the importance of our wedding chuppah as a symbol of the home that we are creating together.
Next he said, “May your home be a haven of harmony, balance and peace, a stronghold of faith… SHOO!… sorry…. in your destiny together and a place of love and compassion.” Then he looked over his shoulder and said even louder, “SHOO!” He then waved off the first of the three dogs wandering on the beach.
The rabbi caught his breath, refocused and continued. However, by that point the entire crowd, including me and my soon-to-be-husband Marc, were now looking at the black chihuahua lifting up its hind leg and peeing on the chuppah pole.
In that moment, I had an important choice to make.
I could either have gotten completely distracted, started cursing or crying, and view that as one of the most horrible things that could have happened. OR… I could view it as a blessing and a chance to take myself, the day, and life a lot less seriously.
But then before I could even make the decision, it happened again. The next dog in the pack followed suit and peed on the same pole, just a few feet away from our feet. Everyone held their breath and looked at Marc and I for a cue to respond.
In that split second, I made my choice. This was hilarious. Amidst the vibrant flowers, the touching ceremony, and the abundant love, was another different moment to cherish. I started laughing and the entire group followed suit.
Two dogs peed on our wedding. Quite true — and quite funny. What would you have done if this happened at one of your most important days of your life? (Comment below)
