Find Your Freedom At Home [Money Tip and Action Step]

by Belinda Rosenblum

You’ll never guess what I’ve been up to lately…? You guessed it (or not):  clearing my closet.

File Jul 07, 1 33 01 PM resizedIn honor of the July 4th holiday, Canada Day, and honestly overcome by the mess that had piled up when I wasn’t paying attention, I decided to gain a new sense of freedom – from my stuff!

I’d walk into my closet and be afraid it would literally come crashing down on me. Talk about a burden, as I have been suffocating under the grip of my clothes and shoes.

So far, I have collected 8 bags of shoes, clothes, and purses for donation – and I’m not done yet.

Yes, just like I encourage you to ask for help, I called in an organizer/ stylist to come over and help me let go of more, decide faster (without the emotional connections), and stay committed to the outcome.

I just took a break to write you this week’s money tip…

MONEY TIP: Find your freedom! What do you have too much of? What do you feel burdened by? What is holding you back from moving forward in your job, business, relationships, health, weight,…? You name it – let’s free you from what isn’t working!

After I backpacked around India for 4 weeks in 2006, I came home and gave away ~1/3 of my stuff. I saw how simply – and happily – these people lived and decided that I wanted more of that simplicity and unburdened joy in my life too. (I tell more of my India realizations in our book Self Worth to Net Worth.)

ACTION STEPS: Use a few hours this holiday weekend to free yourself with these 3 easy steps:

1- Take a good look around your home, especially at your clothes, shoes, home furnishings, keepsakes, papers/ magazines, and other office stuff.

2- Choose one area where you have the most emotional charge – literally you may find yourself holding your breath or tightening up when you think of this area of your life/home.

3- Set a timer for a mere 15 minutes to get started. See how much you can get through to donate or purge. If you’re feeling ambitious, go for 30 or 60 minutes.

Just be sure to finish out the time – and then once again, celebrate your completion and new sense of freedom.

THE PAYOFF: Head into your summer – literally – lighter, less burdened, and more open to the opportunities, joy, and fun available to you.

What is one area where you’d like more freedom? Let me know now by commenting below.

Remember that when you own your money, you own your life too. You stop tolerating what isn’t working in your life and you step out of your comfort zone and take action.

Whether that action starts in your closet or your work, we are building muscles to help you be the money maker you can be.

P.S. Financial empowerment is the key to having everything you want. You can achieve it, no matter where you are now. I joined forces with 30 top experts in business growth, wealth creation, eliminating money leaks, and finances – and we’re sharing our best tips for regaining control of your money and scaling your business.

HELLO, I love your website. This struck a nerve in me big time. I found myself at age 57 out of full time job of legal secretary career of 37 1/2. I was let go with 4 other staff on June 7, 2016. I was proud of my work and loved it of course some bumps in the road but I accomplished that. Now I have been applying for jobs similar and can’t find a full time position in the same field. I AM SO FRUSTRATED. I am single unfortunately, my husband told me in 2009 he didn’t visualize being with me and marriage is old school. I really want too be financially independent doing something I LOVE, I did like legal secretary paralegal but maybe I am burnt from that. Would really love the freedom, financial security and would LOVE to be married too the right MAN. HELP!

I need to declutter more as I have too much stuff. Be lighter and happier! THAT I DO RECOGNIZE would love your help. P.S. I love too travel and am an adventurer by nature

Love your posts/blog. Decluttering is one of the best ways to move one’s energy forward. I’m in the process of moving and so much going on….I’m focusing on my photos now. Thanks for this inspiration! Julie, Possibility Life Coaching for Women

Stress is the number one thing I continue to improve on each day. The more stress I can handle and learn how to let go, the more I can accomplish and I’d like to think your Money workshop last month did some of that work for me! When I got the chance to do your workshop, the roadmap and all of that jarred ideas in me that got me to stumble upon an introductory course through a point earning website on Investment & Trading that I was able to get into for free! My husband and I are starting to talk about registering for a business name to do our own side jobs professionally. I’m three months away from paying off the most expensive debt bill I’ve had thus far and on my way to paying off about $3 to $4 grand more after that. I’d like to be able to enroll in your program, but I think I’ll have my debt paid off first! :D Maybe just in time to join your program from the business side of things instead!

Hi Belinda, I found that a lot of clutter tends to end up in my closet and in the office. Thank you for telling us to do it little by little. Use a timer. Easy does it.
