How To Find Time to Handle Your Money [Money Tip and Action Steps]

by Belinda Rosenblum

I am totally “that mom”… the one who walks her child to school, scratching her head wondering, “OMG, where did that year go…?”

(And be sure to read the important information about the major data breach revealed yesterday by credit reporting company Equifax too here: )

(Rebecca and Seth didn’t seem to mind the time passingSeth loves school and Rebecca will learn to love it I’m sureonce she comes out of the shock of full day pre-school. Smiles for sure at 9am on their first day yesterday!)

Time seems to have literally flown by, and there have been lots of moments when I thought to myself “If only I had more time…” (Does this sound familiar?)

Could you use more time in your day, week, month, and year? I’m guessing the answer is a resounding YES (whether to handle your money or just enjoy life more) so this week’s tip is provided to help you create more time everywhere in your life.

“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” ~Wayne Dyer

MONEY TIP: Instead of living in our world’s scarcity syndrome of “there is never enough time,” let’s change the way you view time as you consider these points:

We all have the same amount of time to work withthere are actually 168 hours (or 10,080 minutes) in each weekand focused time is so much more productive than unfocused distracted time.

Now that you are reminded that you have 10,080 minutes each week to work with, how can you reallocate a few of those minutes to the things that you say are important to you  – like, say, your financial future?

With 10,080 minutes this week to work with, how easy can you make it to carve out 30 or even 60 minutes to safeguard your life, your family, and your entire future?

ACTION STEPS: Here’s how to better leverage your time…

1) Look at your schedule for next week.

2) Actually schedule in 30 minutes for an “Own Your Money Date” where you handle one most important thing you have been meaning to do, but procrastinating on, when it comes to your money.

Perhaps that time block is first thing in the morning, during your lunch hour, on your commute, or on an evening (like when you used to watch a favorite show that is still on holiday for the summer). The time is there but you’ve been handling it by default and essentially letting it own you instead of you owning your time.

3) Honor the time you scheduled in and get that one thing handled with your money.

Then share on our blog when you found the time and what you accomplished during that 30 minutes.

Using this simple strategy can harness any underlying money worry and stress (from putting things off) and actually redirect that energy to make real progress. As you are more present and intentional, you may even find yourself creating more time for everything in your life, especially the people in your life you care about. What a double win to owning your money and your time!

Keep up the momentum from your  “Own Your Money Date” each week. Soon you may even look forward to that time. Oh yeah, and be sure to add some fun in too so you subconsciously look forward to doing it again. I love bringing you joy with your money! (-:

I’d love to hear how you found the time and what you used it for…

PSWill I see you on Thursday? I’m speaking at the new Metrowest Conference for Women on Own Your Money, Own Your Worth. If you live or work in the Metrowest area of Boston, be sure to get/take the day off and be there (or better yet, have your company invest in you to go!).

A little birdie told me they would be opening the wait list up with a few more seats. Here’s the full scoop: to check it out — or message me back if you’ll be there!

PPS – Ooh baby! Monday is a brand new video shoot for some breakthrough trainings happening in October. It’s been a while since we opened enrollment for our signature program — the Money Makers Academy — and we are revving up the engines. If you want to be the first to know when we re-open the doors, just follow this link to be added to the wait list. (As always, the best bonuses are for the fast action takers!)
