Confession time: when I do something that will be repeated, I think about how I can take myself out of the equation the next time (or at least spend less time doing it). 

I think in systems.

In my business and my life, I choose efficiency and a big-picture, even though I am naturally a ‘doer’. 

Given today is Memorial Day here in the United States, I was reminiscing about how I used to host a barbeque and get-together each year. 

I had created an easy checklist of supplies, food, and even what had to be done around the house to prep before the company arrived.

And now with two small kids, this process has translated to kids’ birthday parties…

The parties would happen every year and are typically a similar gathering. 

Because of that, I have a system for everything that needs to happen before, during, and after the party. (The more specific the better… like how many and what flavor of pizza to order for X number of adults and kids. I know that I can be a total geek at times… but it saves lots of decision fatigue every year!)
