Sometimes we all learn expensive lessons.
As a money expert, I’m not exempt either!
Here’s what happened…
On Tuesday, November 24th, our stove wouldn’t turn on.
No burners. No oven. Not good news, especially just 2 days before Thanksgiving.
We tried everything we could think of at the moment, and then we resigned ourselves that after 15 years, it was time for a new stove. So as problem solvers and action takers, we immediately began looking for a new one.
We even had a small hope that we could get a new one in time for the holiday, but nope. (Fun fact: appliances manufacturing has been largely shut down since the pandemic, so it’s very difficult to find any appliances in stock right now!)
So I shopped around, got a good deal from our local appliance store (we shop local when possible!), and in about an hour, had a new stove on the way for a Monday delivery.
Fast forward and our new stove arrives and is installed!
The delivery people loaded it in, set it up, and tested it.
The new stove didn’t work either. Hmmm….
Then they tried everything they could think of with the actual unit.

The other day I was thinking to myself, I’m just tired.
Too many circumstances this year have been way out of our control — and it can feel exhausting to live outside of our comfort zone so much of the time.
And even though online businesses fared better than most other businesses, we were all affected in some way by all the 2020 craziness.
Part of me wanted to just throw in the towel.
I thought of my two options: 1 – take the income hit this year, not push myself this month, and start fresh in January or 2 – remember that December has historically been great for our business and do what I can so this December continues to stay strong, and most importantly, business owners get what they need to be in control of their money and their mindset about it.
(Hint: when it wasn’t all about me — and me staying comfortable, the decision quickly became clear.)
No matter what changed for you and your business this year, you don’t need to wait until January to reset your goals and feel motivated.
WATCH: December can still be your best month yet:
Why not start now?

Call yourself the CEO of your business.
This is a really important step — as a business owner and leader. This is the identity that I want for you.
I recorded a quick video on what it means to be the CEO of your business. Check it out!
Too many business owners leave the role of CEO open in their own business…
… and they unknowingly take over as the overworked and underpaid employee.
So not only is no one actually leading, but this can really suck the joy out of your business.
And without a plan, effectively leading becomes nearly impossible.
That plan needs to take into account where you currently are and where you want to go.
